Horizon View 7 – Initial Horizon View Configuration
In this post, we are about configuring the Connection Server so that it can create pools of VDI desktops. We use the Horizon Administrator UI to perform these Connection Server configuration tasks. Before we create a desktop pool we must have the following parameters configured:
- Horizon 7 license
- vCenter Server user account – See Horizon View 7 – Prepare Active Directory
- View Composer Server user account– See Horizon View 7 – Prepare Active Directory
- View Composer Server user account – See Horizon View 7 – Prepare Active Directory
Horizon 7 License
In Horizon Administrator, navigate to View Configuration, and select Product Licensing and Usage.
- Click Edit License.
- Enter the 25-character serial number of the product license key.
- Click OK.
- Verify that the licenses for Desktop, Application Remoting, Composer, and Instant Clone are all enabled.

Configure Servers
In Horizon Administrator, navigate to View Configuration, and select Servers. Click Add. Enter the service account details created earlier. – See Horizon View 7 – Prepare Active Directory
Accept the certificate presented from the vCenter server.

Select Standalone View Composer Server and enter the service account details created earlier. – See Horizon View 7 – Prepare Active Directory

Enable View Storage Accelerator and Reclaim VM disk space

Review the settings and Click Finish to add the vCenter server to View Administrator. Confirm the venter is listed within View.

Configure Instance Clone
In Horizon Administrator, navigate to View Configuration, and select Instance Clone Domain Admins, Click Add.
Enter the service account details created earlier. – See Horizon View 7 – Prepare Active Directory

Confirm the user is listed within View.
